About 108 Tim_Mudrick

Twenty-seven years old - live in DC - ride a BMW R1150GS. I've been riding since I was 19. Still ride dirt bikes. Love to play pinball. I'm not an Iron Butt guy, my limit is around 600 miles. I do a lot of city riding as my GS is my old mode of transport. It rarely snows here, so I can manage in the winter.

The other day I noticed a strange noise in my 2001 BMW R1150GS. It sounded like I was riding a diesel bike. Just not the same sewing machine noise that BMWs are known for. I popped the valve cover off and found a piece of the plastic cam chain tensioner rail floating around near the valves. Not good. I took it to my mechanic and he gave me some bad news. The plastic cam chain tensioner rail completely failed and the cam chain tensioner fell into the bottom of the engine, likely destroying a whole bunch of stuff. So the motor is ruined. I need a donor engine or will be parting it out.
